I just discovered that problem on my system, as well. I hadn’t tried the Image Size function until today, because I’d pretty much been unable to work productively in CS4. I went on to discover the same problem in trying to enter sizes in other dialogs, like Crop and Guassian Blur. I don’t see how that would be video-card related, but maybe it is.
Why would they make this performance option unavailable for standard PS? Seems ridiculous, but then again, the problems I’m having seem ridiculous. I do know that Adam J. I have no idea how long a fix will take, but you can also bet it won’t be overnight. The «standard» in that message about GPU is to be ignored. This officially from Chris Cox. I am also having serious problems with all of my 3rd party filters, and I have quite a few of them – NONE of them will show up in the filter menu in CS4. Also have found that while the Bridge is pretty stable, Photoshop crashes frequently. When it’s actually running, it is painfully slow, and I am finding it difficult to get work done I called Adobe technical support and they simply refused to discuss any of the problems because 1.
The video card issue isn’t their problem. The 3rd party filters issue isn’t their problem. They don’t «guarantee» a good experience with WinXP 64, and don’t provide technical support for it.
I’m pretty much done and will go back to CS3 until they resolve at least some of these issues. I’ll stayed tuned and be interested to see how you guys fare with CS4. It is slower than CS3, the interface is horrible and help does not work at all. I have posted elsewhere on the major bug that cursor outlines either vanish, go to a partial arc or freeze.
This is really not good enough. All I can say is you must have a sub-par system. I am experiencing not a single problem you describe and Photoshop is actually faster for me than CS3. My online help works, I was also able to download the PDF of the manual. You can set pixels to change the image size.
All my brushes show up fine. Dodging is fine as are the menu items with no lag at all. Have you installed the latest video drivers? What video card are you using? I’m slowly becoming convinced that many of the problems people are seeing are really conflict issues, not problems with CS4 or graphic cards as such.
I disgree. I think video card drivers by and large are total sh! Video card drivers have been notorious problems for a very long time. Thanks again. The Intel driver team is making progress toward supporting all the OpenGL features that Photoshop needs.
Sorry, no release date for this updated driver yet. FYI, the Great news, is a fully functional OpenGL 2. These changes are in progress, along with fixing some other bugs. Once these new features are stable, they will be available in a driver update, and Photoshop will begin to recognize and use Intel graphics for OpenGL features.

Forget about Intel support. There is no intel support exist. Your case, I guess is not serious, there are too few of you having to run Photoshop. So you can forget updates or stuff like that — Intel has many more seroius things to do. Intel can make updated drivers for dozens of years, they are not interested in their customers loyalty, until they sell their millions of processors and sell them well.
If you want support, buy from any other producer. Find one that supports their products. If you want anything else without support — buy from Intel.
I understand that the wait is frustrating, but we do want to release a stable driver. But we all have to face the truth here. They all have bugs. Even Windows has bugs, even MacOS does! But they all are constanty being fixed by their teams of developers. Intel fixes their drivers…well, maybe ONCE in a year. NVidia and many other ones ship new versions of their drivers every week. Intel has some features I need, but after finding and reading this topic till the end, I see it does not support Photoshop CS4!!!

I am not aware of any current compatibility issues with Flash author or player. Intel is in the process of developing and testing an updated driver that will support this, hopefully to be released in early I have used an Intel GM45 system with a pre-production driver to test the new Photoshop CS4 OpenGL features like smooth-zoom, birds-eye view, and canvas rotate, and they perform smoothly.
In the Performance panel, click Advanced Settings. Disable Open CL. Configuring computers with multiple graphics cards. Click Manage 3D settings. AMD: a. Disable the less powerful graphics card. Please use caution and bear in mind that disabling the graphics card may lead to system instabilities.
