I download by videos to either D or E spending on available space. I the preference window, there is Temporary files folder which now indicates Drive C. I have been sending the videos thru renders to the D or E drive and want to continue along those lines. How do I make sure that I will be able to find my finished videos so that I can forward those to You tube.

Any help or suggestions will be appreciated. It is best to leave the location of the Temporary Files Folder on your C-Drive, otherwise you may experience problems due to Windows Permissions Settings. You can always delete everything in this folder if it gets too big and it will regenerate the next time you open Vegas.

I’m having a problem with the crop taskbar. When I press pan and crop on the video it doesn’t have the menu that pops up.

If this is what you mean, you have probably accidentally docked the window into the tabbed windows area.

Look at the tabs for Project Media, Explorer, Transitions Grab hold of the row of vertical dots in top left corner and drag onto the Desktop. If that is not your problem, I suggest you do a full program reset. In regards to Sony platinum movie studio 13, I have a problem with the video effect window, where you can add text and formatting. The window is too small and I cannot resize it to work with it. I cannot see the bold field, or the alignment for the fonts.

No matter what I do the window remains small, whether I am in simple or advance edit. I am using a Dell touch laptop 64bit. Any light on this issue will be appreciated.

If you have accidentally docked it into a tabbed window area, you need to grab it by the row of vertical dots in the top left corner and drag it out onto the MS desktop.

You must highlight any text you have added, before you can change things like Bold, etc. I recommend you post this question on the Movie Studio Zen forum and then I can upload a screen shot of what the window is meant to look like.

Do I still have to find a video to «Match Media Settings? When you are creating a project that contains no video, DON’t use the Match Media setting – always say no to that question when importing photos only.

For most people, that would be something like a Frame Size of x and using a Frame Rate that your country uses. Software hangs during editing, preview and rendering. I cannot render to any format. Keep getting an out of memory error. Went to Sony’s tech support and followed instructions.

At this point I have uninstalled and reinstalled to a new administrator profile. I won’t tell you the user name for the new account, because it’s not appropriate for all audiences. Now I am in the registry editor. Really Sony? After 13 versions you don’t have it right?

By the way, I am tempted to call tech support, but it’s fee based and the thought of giving these guys another dime nauseates me. If you make good software I could see paying for tech support. For this, they should pay me.

While I was trying to get this to render I reviewed other video editors. Looking forward to trying something else. Goodbye forever, Sony Movie Studio. Update: Never got it to work. Uninstalled 13 and reinstalled Movie Studio Had to re-do the entire production from the start.

Got it done in time, but Sony owes me for at least 10 hours of wasted life. Not a debt I ever expect to be satisfied. Notice the picture of the product isn’t Sony. It’s real name has been photoshopped out of the top right of the box.

You don’t get Sony Movie Studio with the purchase. I tried submitting a review with the name of what you do get, and it was declined. It’s a scan. Most of the reviews for this product conclude that it is difficult to use. I would agree somewhat with that assessment, particularly for those who have never used such software before and are looking for a one-click-and-done solution. Prior to purchasing this I had been using Nero Platinum which was easy to use, but was buggy and produced horrible results.

Sony includes lots of nice features in Movie Studio if you can find them such as the ability to set levels and perform color correction. DVD Architect can be tedious to use. I would suggest that potential buyers download and install the fully functional unlike Adobe Premier Elements trial version and use it for 30 days before purchasing. Then, buy the boxed DVD here to get the activation licenses; no reinstall necessary.

The interface changes were unwelcome, but not so drastic that I could not adapt after several hours usage. Video Editing appears little changed since version 12, some interface elements are repositioned and some have been removed into expandable menus.

I has Windows 8 feel to the whole interface which may cater to the touchscreen requirements of some users, although I cannot see serious editing being very efficient on a touch screen, with casual editing it maybe a different matter.

It still looks and feels like «Movie Studio Platinum», you just need to confirm where the features that you use actually are where you remember them to be or not. Audio Editing in my case is limited to fading in and out at the start and end of videos.

This appears to work the same as in version Sorry for being able to comments a depth area of the Programme. I brought this version not by completely free choice. After installation my problems were solved. Editing, rendering and uploading seem to be pretty much the same, but I am still working my way through all the facets of the software so there may be some changes I have not yet found. All in all it is good for what it does, I gave it five stars because my needs do not push the programme beyond it’s limits; other may find this is not the case.

Not exactly what I expected seeing number 13 on the package. It is so so basic. What disappointed me was the lack of video envelopes in Movies and only one sound track in DVD Architect, so one can’t add different language commentaries.

But if you are looking for something for beginners or advanced beginners this product could be a very good choice for you. It is well constructed and leads you from the very start of importing your movies and photos from camcorder or photo camera through very logical steps to making the movie and then exporting it to DVD Architect and making your dvd or bluray disc. Your own themes and menues could add a personal touch to your work making you proud of your presentation.

Makes it worth every penny, for example if you have a shakey video you can add a » stabilise effect» to make it less shakey! I use this software a lot to make holiday videos it’s great how you can have still images then a video off your phone, or off your camera and put in some background music, then burn it on blu-ray or DVD!

As for the program, it runs well on my system which is a high-end gaming system. Keep in mind that although there is a help feature, your best instructions for using it will be from Utube videos. There are several others, some of which concentrate on particular problems, but if you stick with the steep learning curve it will do all you want it to do.

Quite frankly I’m just a beginner, but after banging my head against the wall and re-reading or re-watching the videos, you can get it to do what you want. You are almost forced to edit in a linear fashion because there is no preview monitor. Double click on a clip and it goes straight to the timeline. It is not a fast interface to use to try simple things like adjust audio with keyframes.

There is no use for this in a professionally written segment. I’m still trying to make it work for me but every little thing is a struggle even when I’ve looked up on YouTube what to do to make it work the way I want.

I would caution the buy of this as someone who has worked in a high market. I’m still trying to find a nice alternative to use at home for creative editing but at this point I can’t recommend this. I find this program easy to use, although the instructions with a pointer shifting backward and forward on your timeline can be annoying.

There are plenty of filmed versions of instructions showing the screen as clips are edited on youtube. I traced the problems I was having with version 10 being unable to work with HD thanks to a chap in Sydney Australia that way, then bought Version Thirteen has many new features but a novice can start straightforward editing easily and move on to more advanced techniques at their own pace.

The new thing is that it is now designed for touch screens. One thing about the Sony – I had been using another well known system for a long time, which seemed to crash if you frowned at it. I have had hardly any trouble like this with the Sony. It can hit a problem, but tells you what it is usually caused by me, if I am honest but not crashing constantly for no apparent reason, leaving you confused and frustrated.

I bought this programme in early May and used it to edit my holiday video before I wrote my review to give a broad view of how well I liked this programme. I am not a novice at editing but I found the «Show my how» on screen help to be of little use and to be quite honest, without the help of an Australian guy who has posted some extreamly helpful video’s on «You Tube», I could still be staring at a blank screen.

Once I had visited «You Tube » a number of times and seen his full range of instructional video’s I began to enjoy the editing process and this programmes power and flexibility but working only with a timeline I found awkward and would have preferred the option of a storyboard layout. I did find the editing screen format cramped and almost essential to have a dual screen layout to provide clarity.

Although a good editing programme I think the novice should stay clear until they have attained some basic skills before the tackle this programme!

But on my modest PC, performance on HD movies made editing a sluggish and frustrating experience. So I tried out 6 different free or demos of products that were supposed to work well on slower PCs, and tested them for an hour each trying to edit a simple video. On 5 of them, after an hour, I was not much further into the edit than when I started, and in one, ended up with nothing at all, just curses as a baffling workflow, that involved joining and unjoining edits, defeated me.

With Movie Studio, I had nearly finished the whole edit in the hour and the whole experience was a pleasure. My main problem with Premier Pro, my pc performance, was not an issue – everything was very responsive without having to pre-render previews. The whole bundle is amazing value – including music tools, DVD authoring, plugins and effects. In addition to the ones advertised, there are cards inside at least in my copy with links to further free plugins from Hitfilm.

The two big and one small downside s for me for which I have subtracted one star are that the buttons on screen are just far too big, render times for final movie are unbelievably slow and titling workflow is a bit unusual. The buttons on the screen in this version of Movie Studio are designed for Touchscreen users, so they are big, clunky and use a lot of valuable screen space.

Why the application doesn’t have a ‘regular’ and ‘touchscreen’ option I will never know it does have a simple and advanced interface. As a result, commonly used buttons don’t fit along the bottom of the screen too, and appear in a ‘config’ pop-up, which is frustrating. Renders to final movie are tortuously slow, and I have accepted that if I am going use this application regularly, my renders will need to be left running overnight and sometimes much of the next day.
