Intuit are quite shocking in their marketing approach.

My guess is that they are being rather greedy and motivated excessively by a desire to make money, and it could backfire on them in a big way. I, for one, am losing confidence. Oh, and yes, as others have reported, get the download version from Amazon UK not the cd.

The download version from Amazon is the UK version. It does not take long to download and is quick and easy to install. I am aware that some people have purchased the cd version which is not fully compatible with UK despite being sold in UK by Amazon UK silly isn’t it.

Intuit are pushing their on-line version of QuickBooks and actively discouraging the pc desktop version it gets worse. I for one do not want all my eggs in their basket. I have installed the pc desktop version for several small uk businesses v v v and it is excellent software but I fear for the future as the trend seems to be that Intuit are likely to screw us, their customers, and force us along a path that suits them and presumably the desire to maximise profit but may inconvenience us, the people who ultimately pay their wages.

For a small business, particularly where broadband connections may be poor, the pc desktop version is brilliant. So why do Intuit tell lies. I quote from an email from them – August 24th «QuickBooks desktop is now only available on a monthly subscription basis» that is not true so why do they say it?

Just download a copy of Quickbooks Pro from Amazon and start using it. Apart from their «On-line» offering which I strongly dislike Intuit want to push their «subscription model» desktop software as it will greatly increase their profits even though for many of their small business customers it is a bad move, they do, of course, sell that model as being of benefit to the customer – who are they kidding?.

Nothing wrong with profit, but not to the disadvantage of the small business users who are committed to Quickbooks. In my view that is excellent value and sensible pricing for a small business. Perhaps this representative of Intuit is on commission? So you can see why they are doing the hard sell.

It is just a shame that hard sell turns into blatant lying! Please Intuit, you have loyal customers who love your software – there is more to life than maximising profits by hurting those of us who struggle to make a living by running tiny companies or being self-employed.

Had been using a very old version of QuickBooks [from ] and needed a version that was more up-to-date. It was comparatively simple to upgrade the old company files to this version of QuickBooks [Intuit have a well documented process online]. When I encountered a hiccup – Intuit’s customer support quickly spotted the issue [with a customised VAT coding] and helped resolve it.

QB is the last desktop version you can own outright [no monthly subscription]. It’s as intuitive as any Accounting software ‘is’. But that is not really an issue. The seller is responsive – happy with my purchase.
